Maybe you've heard of the Salton Sea - a seemingly abandoned place save for the artist communes dappling the seascape. Creative people making the space the space apologetically their own. I'm drawn to these unauthorized places...enter Hardcore. Hardcore feels so deliciously escapist that it's hard to believe it exists.
With a village of chairs, canopies, couches and tables, you can kickback and lounge for hours and hours and hours.
The coffee is smooth, and delicious. Not burnt, not sour, just right! They offer a limited food selection outside of pastries and muffins. Service has been mixed - both warm and distant. But honestly, who cares?
Small 8x10 single room stores offering hair braiding, leather bags, artwork, stones, and clothing encircle the property. If you're thinking " this doesn't sound like my scene..." go for the coffee because it's damn good. -

So first of all. I love the funk. And this place has funk upon funk. There is a lot of recycle and character. Reminds me of a place I used to go to in the 80's down in Santa Cruz. Laid back and just no care, who cares? That I care for not caring..bro. Really it is a place to get a cup and sit amongst the eclectic hodgepodge and enjoy your poison while contemplating the wind. Do me a favor and turn off your digital world and enjoy a convo with someone. This place begs for you to get back to a time before FB updates and emails and all that. Plus there is so much to look at, you will miss it if your head is down.

Excellent quality Kulani organic coffee! Been coming here for almost 20 years for my iced americano, and the coffee and the atmosphere are always awesome. The outdoor seating areas are like no other place and locals practically live here! Bonus points for free stuff shelf, cannabis use corner, and cool but funky kids play area. You must go hang at hardcore!

Amazing Expresso drinks in a fabulous funky atmosphere (‿) the child and artist friendly place has local items on consignment. It goes on forever with super cute places to relax and enjoy a pastry and liquid fuel.

This place is awesome! Very Sebastopol like, but the atmosphere is so inviting and there's no place like Hardcore. I wouldn't say it's the best coffee and food I've ever had but it's definitely not bad and it's the experience that is most meaningful to me. Their menu is extensive and lots of alternatives are offered for anyone who alters their food or drink. Be prepared to stay a while!
